Stay times for the different types of visa:

Visa types : “V” visitor visa, “M” migrant visa and “R” resident visa.

In this case we will address visitor visas :

It is granted to carry out certain activities:


  1. Carry out direct transit in any of the airports of the national territory and with destination to a third State.

The validity of this visa will be up to 30 days for multiple transits and the stay will be a maximum of 24 hours restricted to sterile areas or direct transit in airports.

  1. Visiting the national territory for purposes of leisure, tourism or cultural interest.
  2. Carry out business negotiations, market studies, direct investment plans or procedures and the constitution of commercial companies, etc.
  3. Participate in academic exchange programs, studies, etc.
  4. Attend medical consultation, intervention or treatment.
  5. Carry out administrative and/or judicial procedures before entities or authorities in Colombia.
  6. Enter and work in Colombian jurisdictional waters as a crew member of a vessel or on an offshore platform.
  7. Participate in an event as a speaker, exhibitor, artist, athlete, jury, etc.
  8. Carry out an internship or internship.
  9. Volunteer in development cooperation projects or in the promotion and protection of human rights.
  10. Produce audiovisual production or digital content.
  11. Carry out journalistic coverage or remain temporarily as a press correspondent for a foreign medium.
  12. Provide temporary services to a natural or legal person in Colombia.
  13. Hold a position in a headquarters in Colombia of a company with a presence abroad.
  14. Coming as a foreign government official or commercial representative of a foreign government, on a mission that does not imply accreditation before the Colombian government.
  15. Visit the national territory under vacation programs - jobs agreed by Colombia with other States through treaties in force.

The validity of these visas will be up to 2 years, taking into account the activity proposed by the foreign person in Colombia.

In the case of the Visas of numbers 2, 3 and 8, the permanence will be a maximum of 180 continuous or non-extendable days in each 365 days of use of the visa.

In the case of numerals 16, the validity will be 1 year and the permanence will be equal to the validity time of this.

Tourist visa TV - 11: the stay is for a maximum of 180 days, continuous or discontinuous, in each 365 days of use of the visa.

Information.

The extensions of the permanence must be requested in advance of its expiration, it will be presented before any office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs designated for that purpose.


Type "M" visas.
  1. Spouse or permanent partner of a Comobian national.
  2. Parent or child of a Colombian national by adoption.
  3. National of one of the States parties to the "Agreement on Residence for nationals of the States Parties to Mercosur, Bolivia and Chile".
  4. Be recognized as a refugee in Colombia.
  5. Have permanent or long-term employment in Colombia.
  6. Having constituted or acquired participation in the capital stock of a commercial company.
  7. Have qualifications or expertise to practice the profession independently.
  8. Coming to the national territory as a religious, missionary or religious in formation, from a church or religious confession, duly recognized by the Colombian State.
  9. Being admitted or enrolled in primary, secondary or middle school studies, or higher education program in Colombia.
  10. Having registered direct foreign investment in Colombia for real estate.
  11. Receive retirement or retirement pension, or receive periodic income from a creditable lawful source.

These visas will be valid for 3 years, and may be less valid in cases 5 and 9.

The permanence will be equal to the time of validity of the same.

Beneficiary visa . For members of the family nucleus (spouse or permanent partner, parents, children under 25 years of age or older when they have a disability), financial dependents of the main holder of a visa type "M" or "R", or of the Main holder of a type "V" visa only when it has been granted for the activities contemplated in that visa, numerals 12 to 15.
