Foreign people:

  1. Valid and current travel document or identification document (6 months minimum).
  2. Entry or exit record in a format defined by the migration control authority.
  3. Valid visa for the cases established by law or by the human mobility authority.
  4. The immigration control agent must verify the immigration status invoked by the foreign person at the time of their presentation at the official immigration control point.
  5. Health declaration of the digital traveler (QR code), which must be presented prior to embarking on Ecuador.

Repatriated people:

They do not need to present the negative PCR test or the vaccination certificate, in case they arrive on humanitarian flights, within the framework of the conflict   between Russia and Ukraine .

Officials who are working in the conflict area on official mission are also exempted. Upon arrival in national territory, they must undergo a diagnostic test for COVID-19. If they present a positive result, they must enter preventive isolation for 10 days.

      The visa is the document that contains the authorization for foreigners to stay in Ecuador for a temporary or permanent period in accordance with the immigration conditions established by law.

      There are different types of visas. To request a visa, the foreign person must make a request before one of the Foreign Service Bodies and the forms issued by the human mobility authority for that purpose.

      Visa types

      diplomatic visa

      This is a special travel document (diplomatic visa), through which it is authorized to exercise official functions by diplomatic agents, consulars or international organizations, duly accredited before the Ecuadorian State, granted based on the activities that the applicant will carry out. in Ecuador, temporarily, to fulfill courtesy functions and permanently to fulfill diplomatic, administrative or technical functions.

      It is addressed to all natural persons - Ecuadorians who need to be accredited as diplomats before the receiving State, and natural persons - foreigners who need to be accredited by the Ecuadorian government, to carry out the commissions designated by the corresponding State or International Organization.

      Permanent diplomatic visas for diplomatic and consular officials are valid for 3 years, renewable, with multiple entries and exits. And courtesy temporary diplomatic visas are valid for up to 6 months, renewable once, with multiple entries and exits. These terms or their exemption may vary according to the international instruments that Ecuador has signed for this purpose.

      humanitarian visa

      The humanitarian visa will be granted free of charge to applicants for refugee status or statelessness and to people who demonstrate the existence of exceptional humanitarian reasons for being victims of natural or environmental disasters.

      Tourist visa

      Temporary stay authorization granted by the Ecuadorian state to foreigners from Special Regime countries who visit Ecuador with the aim of carrying out tourist activities and are prohibited from carrying out work activities. It is issued through the Diplomatic Missions or Consular Offices of Ecuador abroad.

      The foreign person who enters Ecuador with the category of tourism may remain in the country for a maximum period of ninety (90) days, counted from the date on which

      that he made his first entry into Ecuadorian territory within a period of one (1) year, and may be extended up to ninety (90) days.

      For tourists from Member States of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), the period of stay granted by the Authority responsible for migration control will be up to one hundred and eighty (180) days in a period of one year counted from their first entry.

      special tourist visa

      The foreign person who is in Ecuadorian territory for one hundred eighty (180) days as a tourist, may request a special tourist visa from the Zonal Coordinations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility. This visa authorizes the permanence as a tourist of the foreign person, up to the period that completes the year.

      Agreement visa

      Indicated for foreigners who request a visa under an agreement or agreement ratified by the Ecuadorian State. Officials, experts, members or consultants of foreign non-governmental organizations that have signed a basic operating agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, and that are legally established in the country; as well as foreign press correspondents residing in Ecuadorian territory, can apply for this type of visa.
