Standards:
Foreigners are allowed to enter the country by air, provided that the appropriate migratory requirements are met, which are:
1. submit to the airline responsible for the flight, before boarding, meeting the following criteria:
a) the document must be presented in the Portuguese, Spanish or English;
b) the test must be carried out in a laboratory recognized by the health authority of the country of embarkation;
c) in the event of a flight with connections or stopovers in which the traveler remains in a restricted area of the airport, the period of 72 hours shall be considered in relation to boarding on the first leg of the trip;
d) the traveler who performs migration that exceeds 72h since the rt-pcr test must present a document proving the performance of a new test with negative or non-reactive result for check-in for boarding.
2. complete the Electronic Traveler Health Statement 72 hours before flight departure, to be presented in print or digital form upon check-in.
Children under 12 years of age traveling with a companion are exempt from laboratory testing: children under 12 years of age traveling with a companion, provided that all companions present negative or non-reactive results of the RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 and children under 2 years of age.
3. Present travel document.
4. present entry visa, when required by nationality and;
5. Present International Immunization Certificate when necessary by nationality.
Itamaraty is the body responsible for granting visas, which can be requested through embassies, consulates general, consulates and vice-consulates of Brazil abroad or electronically.
Important information:
- International flights to Brazil, which originate or pass through South Africa, India, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom, are prohibited.
- Boarding permits for Brazil by foreign traveler, coming or passing through South Africa, India, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom, in the last fourteen days are suspended.
- Brazilian born or naturalized and other travelers described in art. 3 of Ordinance 655/2021 with origin or history of passage through South Africa, India, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom in the last fourteen days, must remain in quarantine for fourteen days, upon entering the country.
- The Federal Police,in accordance with the guidelines of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa),canprevent entry into the territory that do not comply with the migration requirements appropriate to its condition.
Points of entry authorized by land:
The entry of foreigners of any nationality, by highways, other land means or by water transport is restricted.
This measure does not apply to: a) Brazilian, born or naturalized; b) immigrant with permanent residence, for a fixed or indefinite period, in Brazilian territory; c) foreign professional on a mission at the service of an international body, with proper identification; d) foreign official accredited to the Brazilian Government; e) foreigners with spouse, partner, son, father or trustee of Brazilian; whose entry is specifically authorized by the Brazilian Government in the public interest or for humanitarian reasons; and holder of National Migration Registry (RNM) and f) traffic of border residents in twin cities, provided that a border resident document or other evidentiary document is presented.
Exceptions:
- The restriction of entry by land does not apply to foreigners coming from Paraguay, provided that the immigration requirements appropriate to their condition are commendable, including with the presentation of a visa, when necessary.
- The foreigner who is in a land border country and needs to cross it to board a return flight to his country of residence, can enter Brazil with authorization from the Federal Police.
- Paraguayan nationals are allowed to enter, upon presentation of: COVID-19 test, with a negative result, performed no later than 72 hours before the departure of the first boarding point. The test must be presented in Portuguese, Spanish or English. There are exceptions for non-presentation of the test for: children under 12 years traveling with companions with negative/non-reactive results of the RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2; and children under 2 years of age.
Points of entry authorized by sea/inland waterway:
The disembarkation of sea crew for medical assistance or for air return connection to the country of origin related to operational issues or termination of employment contract, can occur in all authorized ports.
The disembarkation in these cases is conditioned to the presentation of a term of responsibility for the expenses arising from the transshipment signed by the shipping agent, a document proving that the RT-PCR laboratory test was performed, with negative or non-detectable results, in the 72 hours prior to embarkation, prior consent of local health authorities and presentation of the corresponding airline tickets.
