Measures against Covid

General non-pharmacological measures:

  • respiratory etiquette
  • use of masks (except children under 3 years old)
  • hygiene of hands, personal objects and items sold
  • detachment

In addition, other measures may be adopted by the Brazilian government.

The authorities may order mandatory medical examinations to be carried out; laboratory tests; clinical sampling; vaccination and other prophylactic measures; specific medical treatments; as well as the exceptional and temporary restriction of entry and exit from the country, according to the technical and reasoned recommendation of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) , by roads, ports or airports.

The measures may be adopted by the Ministry of Health or by local health managers in the states and/or municipalities. It is recommended to consult the measures valid at the subnational level, before traveling around the country.


There are specific restriction measures for the international transit of travelers through airports and aircraft, which are as follows:

  • Mandatory use of a personal protective mask in the restricted area of the airport and on aircraft;
  • Landing carried out by ranks;
  • Frequent hand hygiene;
  • Sound warnings will be maintained, adjusted to the current situation of the pandemic;
  • Physical distancing recommended whenever possible.

Exceptions to the use of the mask:

  • By people with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual, sensory or other disabilities that prevent the proper use of a mask
  • For children under the age of 3 (three) years
  • During communication with the hearing impaired
  • When necessary to carry out the physical identification of the traveler
