Info (Tipos de visas y requisitos).

A visa is a legal proof that grants access to the territory of the Republic of Suriname. The application for a visa is made at the foreign representation of the Republic of Suriname apart from the permanent representation in New York. The validity period of a visa is the period during which the visa must be used.

Every foreigner who requires a visa, except for foreign nationals of Surinamese origin, who wish to stay in Suriname for more than 3 months (90 days), must apply for an MKV at the embassy or consulate of Suriname in the country of origin.

Article 11 of the visa instruction (SB 1983 no.68) clearly states that refugees, seamen and crew members of aircraft are exempt from visas. Also, according to the revised Treaty of Chaguaramas in Article 46, CARICOM citizens are allowed to move freely in Suriname for six months. Furthermore, certain groups, the skilled citizens, are allowed to settle here to work (SB 2006 no. 19).
