Enabled Entry Points

Air:

The Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport, also known as Zanderij, is Suriname’s only international airport and is operating with restrictions.

Only the following international flights are permitted in Surinamese airspace:

  • The Netherlands, Caribbean, Guyana, French Guiana, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, Brazil, the United States of America, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic: outbound and inbound flights for cargo and passenger traffic.
  • Cuba, and the Dominican Republic: only inbound and outbound cargo traffic and outbound passenger traffic.
  • Haiti: Inbound and outbound passengers are allowed given that they are residents of Suriname or have explicit written permission from the Government of the Republic of Suriname to travel to Suriname.

Domestic flights for regular passenger traffic are not allowed, they are only authorized for cargo, stranded passenger repatriation and medical emergencies.

Air borders remain closed to people unless permission is granted for urgent reasons by the Covid-19 Crisis Management Team (CMT), and subject to the following exception: only after the person has received prior approval from the competent Surinamese authorities to travel, whereby the essential nature of the trip to be made will be assessed. You can obtain the permission in advance requesting it by sending an e-mail to: conza@gov.sr

In addition, you must have the following documents:

  • A negative PCR test not older than 72 hours before departure.
  • If you have been infected with the coronavirus, you must show a positive ELISA test result that is not older than 6 months.
  • A paid reservation of at least 7 days at a government-designated hotel.
  • Travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage.

Transportation from the airport will be provided by the government-designated hotel.


Land:

The land borders are open to the movement of persons in the period from 21 February 2022 until further notice, provided that:

  • the conditions and protocols specific to the relevant country or region from which the person comes directly are met; and
  • only after the person has received prior approval from the Crisis Management Team (CMT) to travel, whereby the essential character of the journey to be made will be assessed

Water:

From Guyana and French Guiana, in the period from 21 February 2022, until further notice, freight and passenger traffic on water is allowed.
