Surveillance at points of entry

The risk of importing a variant depends on the epidemiological situation of the country of origin and the country of destination, the highest risk scenario is that the transmission is more intense in the country of origin than in the country of destination, based on this criterion the following options are suggested:

The progressive opening of the land borders between Ecuador and Colombia is recommended, taking into account the epidemiological situation of the two countries whose border crossing is open with the following hours:

In the established CEBABs where there is an office of the MSP at the point of entry, the hours will be:

MSP: Monday to Sunday, from 08:00 to 17:00.

Government of the border province: Monday to Sunday, 5:01 p.m. to 7:59 a.m. the next day.

Additionally, selective closure of both air and sea borders for citizens of the countries is suggested, with the following criteria:

  • Countries that identify variants of concern VOC (Delta), Omicron, or others,
  • That these countries have active transmission at the community level,
  • That these countries have low vaccination rates.

              Regularization - Other nationalities

In Ecuador there are different alternatives to regularize the immigration status of foreigners.

It is important to know that South Americans may not be inadmissible or deported when they have re-entered the country after having started the process of regularizing their immigration status until it is resolved.

Still, when a foreign person has not regularized their migratory situation in Ecuador within the term established according to the specificity of each case, the migratory control authority will notify them of the obligation to leave the country within a period of thirty days, unless Once this period is met, a deportation procedure will be initiated.

In this way, if you are irregular in Ecuador, you must apply for one of the temporary or permanent residence visas. For this, you will need a series of requirements that include a valid passport, a criminal record certificate, the payment of fees for the application and issuance of visas, and some specific requirements for each category.

Once you have the documents, you can request an appointment online , at the chancelleries or zonal addresses, in order to continue your regularization process and where you will receive information about the other steps to follow.
